    Gateway to the Parkland

    The 'bedroom' community of Bowden is located just South of Innisfail along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway.  The population of Bowden is approximately 1,200 people and the Town is currently working on a new residential development just off of the Bowden Golf Course.

  • Spruce View Updates   ( 12 Articles )

    Spruce View is a farming community that was first settled at the end of the 19th century, many of the original settlers came from Denmark because the area is similar to the Scandinavian countryside.

    In 2006 the population of Spruce View was 174.  Spruce View is located west of Innisfail along Highway 54.

    The Cottonwood Community is a community of farmers that reside west of Innisfail.  The community covers an area surrounding the Cottonwood Road west to Gleniffer Lake and north the the Little Red Deer Road.  There is a community hall located along the Cottonwood Road for community memebers to gather.

    Innisfail and its surrounding communities offer a wide variety of Non-Profit Organizations, Service Groups and Clubs.    None of these would be possible without the tremendous strength of our communities volunteers.  All of these organizations provide an excellent avenue for us to get involved and become active members of our community.

    The hamlet of Springbrook is located just 3 km north of the Town of Penhold.  Springbrook used to be a military base and was later established as a hamlet in 1995.  The Red Deer Regional Airport is located in Springbrook and with a population of approximately 1,000 people, there is a lot to see and do.

    The current population of Red Deer County is 19,108, if you include the municipalities within Red Deer County, the population is 125,000.  Red Deer County has very strong agriculture, oil and gas, manufacturing and processsing industries.  The communities within Red Deer County include:  The City of Red Deer, Town of Sylvan Lake, Town of Innisfail, Town of Penhold, Town of Bowden, Village of Delburne, Village of Elnora, Village of Norglenwold, Village of Jarvis Bay,Hamlets of Springbrook, Benalto, Spruce View, Dickson, Lousana, Markerville and Ardley.

    Red Deer County is governed by Mayor, Earl Kinsella, County Manager, Curtis Herzberg and Councillors, Jim Wood, Reimar Poth, Penny Archibald, David Hoar, Jim Lougheed and George Gehrke.  Red Deer County covers 4,042 square kilometers.
