The Town of Innisfail was incorporated in 1903.

Innisfail has a population of 7,691 as of 2007.  The approximate annual population growth rate is 3.2%.

There are approximately 450 businesses in Innisfail ranging from large to small industrial or manufacturing and many other commercial businesses.

Innisfail is conveniently located approximately half way between the two major Alberta centers of Edmonton and Calgary along the Queen Elizabeth II corridor.

Other major access routes leading to Innisfail are Highways 2A, 54 & 590.
