Innisfail is a community with a rich history dating back to the mid 1800's.  Prior to the incorporation of Innisfail in 1903, the community was known as 'Poplar Grove'.  Today Innisfail is a thriving community conveniently located in Central Alberta along the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Highway corridor between the two major centers of Calgary and Edmonton.  Other major access routes to Innisfail are via Highways 2A, 54 and 590.

There  are many smaller communities in the area which rely on Innisfail for all of their amenities, including employment, recreation, shopping and various other services.  Innisfail has many tourists attractions and community events to entertain locals and travelers alike.

The 7,691 residents of Innisfail enjoy a good quality of life which promotes community spirit and a safe family oriented environment.  The Town of Innisfail is continuing to build on community and economic development and have recently formed some committees to work on specific community initiatives.

    The office for Town of Innisfail is located at 4943 53 Street and offers a variety of services to the residents and businesses of Innisfail.

    The current Town Council consists of Mayor: Ken Graham, Councillor: Derek Baird, Councillor: Pat Churchill, Councillor: Gary MacDonald, Councillor: Don Shygera, Councillor: Tracey Walker, Councillor: Jason Heistad.

    Town Council meets every second and fourth Monday of the Month and the public is always invited to attend.  Town Council works diligently to improve the vitality and sustainablity of the Town of Innisfail.

    Innisfail is a strong and secure community, with 7,691 residents and over 450 businesses.  With the convenient access to the railway and the Queen Elizabeth II corridor, Innisfail is an ideal location for industrial and manufacturing as well as a variety of other commercial businesses.  There are many opportunities for community and economic growth and development in Innisfail.

    The Innisfail and surrounding areas have a wide variety of tourist attractions.  The amazing Canadian Rocky Mountains, which are just out our back door, provide a marvelous landscape and offer a perfect location for many different types of activities.

    Some other fantastic sites to see in the Innisfail area are the Innisfail and District Historical Village, the Markerville Creamery, Dr. George/Kemp House, Discovery Wildlife Park, RCMP Police Dog Training Facility, Innisfail Golf Course, Dickson Dam, Pine Lake, Gleniffer Lake, Danish Canadian National Museum, Dickson Store Museum, Gammel House Gallery and the Bowden Museum.

    People travel from all over to take in some of our great annual events such as the Annual Bucking Horse Sale, the Innisfail Professional Rodeo and the Ivan Daines Cowboy Country Music Picnic.  The Innisfail Farmers Market, the Vintage Car Show and the Country Drive also draw people from great distances to the Innisfail area.
