National Livestock Traceability System Provincial and Territorial agriculture ministers have agreed on implementing a mandatory traceability system for livestock and poultry by 2011. After implementing the provincial traceablity system, Alberta will have a leadership role in the national system. The national government realizes the importance of tracebility for marketing Canadian livestock and poultry at home and abroad and is investing $20 million to build a national system. Traceablility reassures consumers that Canadian products are safe and closely monitored from birth to slaughter. For more information please visit www.alberta.ca.
